Adapting an LED display to your audience

by | Oct 27, 2014

An important thing to keep in mind when purchasing an outdoor LED sign is that one size may not be suitable for all your LED signage needs. Although the market presents a wide range of options for you, it may not always be the case that you will find exactly what you need. For you to ensure that your sign provides you with a good ROI, there are a few factors to consider that will help you in narrowing down your options.

Firstly, who is going to be seeing your LED sign? Are they drivers or people passing by on foot? At what speed limit would drivers be passing by and how close would they be to your sign? Having a basic idea about these factors will help with all decisions related to the visibility of your outdoor LED sign design.

Next, think about the best way to capture audience’s attention. We all know that outdoor LED signs are an effective form of advertising and marketing. Therefore, you need to decide how you will grab the attention of your target market. Consider exactly what your sign will be used for. Also think about whether you will be displaying only text or will you have images and videos on your sign too.

Color or monochrome is another important point to decide on. Upon answering the question of what your sign will be used for, you can decide whether you want to invest in a more costly colored LED sign or will a monochrome one suffice. Also, if you want product images and such displayed on your sign, then color is a better option.

With regard to LED outdoor visibility, you have to look at the resolution and the pitch of the LED display. The resolution gives you information about how many pixels the display has and the pitch tells you about how close together the pixels are. Ideally, the best resolution should be decided depending on how far away the sign is from your audience. For example, if the sign is far away, the pitch should be larger.
